Guide Notes – Spring 2020
Two of our senior guides became dads last year and it is fitting to give these two high fives, even if we are a little late on the news. Neil Chamberlin and his wife, Annie had baby Greta early last June and Josh Gallivan and Jess Larson had their daughter, Makuru (Rue) late in May. They are both off to a wonderful start with their daughters and we look forward to seeing these two families grow. Raising young kids can put a damper on your personal fishing so expect extra hard work while these guys are guiding. Congratulations to two great members of our staff and friends! Last season we were lucky enough to have Nick Fiorini join our guide staff. Nick is an insatiable angler and has been known to take folks out on a short day trip and then go back and fish the evening on his own, crazy in some opinions but the kid loves to fish! Nick is from West Virginia and comes from a family with a deep fly fishing heritage and has some amazing stories to share about his uncle guiding the big steelhead rivers of Alaska and the PNW. If hunting for trophies is your style Nick might be your guy, he is either lucky or quite good because he seems to find them. Another guide who joined our staff last season on a part time basis was Luke Philkill, from Virginia. Luke will be working with us in a full time roll starting in 2020 and even though Luke is fairly new to our crew we feel he has been around for several years since he was an integral part of Trey's operation at Flat Creek Ranch. Luke has been guiding and fishing the JH area for several years now and has level of professionalism that makes him stand out. Like any great guide he has a natural talent for teaching and a passion to provide his guest's with a unique experience. We feel fortunate to have Luke with us! We are happy to welcome to our staff this year Evan Padua from Narrowsburg, New York. Evan has been in the JH area for a few years now during his off season from the Delaware River in NY where he helps his dad operate a fly fishing guide service on that famous fishery in the North East. Evan will be working into the rotation by late July, just in time for prime time on the Snake River and we are excited to have our guests welcoming him to our operation. Evan has a passion for teaching and working the dry fly, he should fit right in with our crew!
