Snake River
The Upper Snake River here in Jackson Hole is fishing quite well with unusual warm weather not typical for mid-March. Good activity is occurring with midges around 11am through about 3pm. In some areas you can find pods of rising cutthroats but many are taking the sub-surface morsels in foam lines and soft eddies. Streamers are also working well to uncover larger trout or random fish not associated with a pod. This should hold for a few weeks and the bugs will transition to skwallas and BWO, or other spring mayflies. If these temps get much higher the river could see a spike in runoff for a week or two but ultimately should drop. See you out there!
PLEASE, FISH BARBLESS HOOKS AND TAKE CARE OF OUR PRIZED NATIVE CUTTHROATS!
Snake River Tributaries
Our Snake River tributaries are slowly waking up but the warm spring should activate good streamer fishing in winter lies. Action will be very limited and spread out, look for the deepest winter lies in the mid afternoon, midges could be on the menu.

Ice Fishing for Trophy Rainbows and Tiger Trout with Grand Teton Fly Fishing!
Our ice season has been a good but is probably just about over, anticipating our last outing March 26 as surface is getting sloppy with meltwater. This lake sits at 7200′ so we have had nice ice since Dec. 1, currently 24″ of mostly hard ice! The fishing has been red hot most days, with the average size falling a bit but numbers are up. We have had several days with 6-8 trout over 20″ landed, mostly rainbows and brook trout and a couple large tiger trout. Come check it out!
Give us a call if you want to reserve a day on this private trophy trout lake!
Salt River
Flows are turbid and very cold, winter/early spring mode!
Teton Park Lakes
JACKSON LAKE: With the unusually warm winter the ice here is deteriorating quickly, so extreme caution should be applied if venturing onto the late ice, most recent report was about 14″. This could be the earliest ice off in history for Jackson Lake, I’m guessing April 10th unless we see a shift in temps soon.
JENNY LAKE: Similar to above but no recent report.
Green River
Flows are low and cold. Winter lies are holding lots of fish and things are waking up, midges or dead drifted streamers, black. Some areas should see a few BWO and heads looking up!
